Bryan Anderson, longtime Edmonton City Councillor and friend of the Oak Hills Community League, passed away at the age of 78 earlier this month. Our condolences and thoughts are with Bryan’s wife, Sharin, and family during this difficult time.
A beloved Edmonton high school teacher and sports coach, Bryan continued to champion the growth of sports and recreation in his 19 years of public service as city councillor for Ward 5 and Ward 9. Bryan was instrumental in the construction of world-class sport and recreation infrastructure across Edmonton, including our own Terwillegar Recreation Centre. In 2019, the park beside the Terwillegar Recreation Centre was renamed the Bryan Anderson Athletic Grounds to honour his contributions and he was inducted to the city’s sports hall of fame last June.
The Oak Hills Community League was fortunate to work with and learn from Bryan in his six consecutive terms as city councillor. His passion for community building and the incredible impact he made as an educator, coach and public servant live on with his legacy.

Peeling paint, discoloration and non-uniform paint application makes our community look less desirable, encourages graffiti and shows an apathy to maintain our properties. We will be observing physical distancing, and gathering maximums.
Community Paint Day is proudly sponsored by Duraguard Fence. Please consider contacting Duraguard Fence if you need help building, painting or repairing your fences...residential, commercial and industrial.
Calling all green thumbs and those interested in community cleanup! Join neighbours, bring a rake/leaf blower, pruning shears, garden gloves and lets get to work on cleaning up and refreshing entry boulevards
This one day event will help beautify the planting beds and keep Oak Hills beautiful! The task will be to remove litter, cleanup weeds and remove dead vegetation at all the Leger and Carter Crest Entry Boulevards / decorative fence-lines.
Let’s celebrate our children’s curiosity, skills and knowledge. Growing Up Dayhome Care is co-hosting a child-inspired Art Walk along Latta Crescent near Leger Blvd. The children will have artwork displayed on outside fences for you to enjoy!
PLUS Bring your own chalk to contribute your OWN art on a square of the sidewalk nearby!
Please comply with all current health regulations while out walking near this event. Stay safe and happy everyone!
Spring is here, with its wonderful weather, new blooms, and green grass, and the annual blowing tumbleweeds of litter.
Oak Hills Community League has 5 Capital City Cleanup kits to hand out, which include:
A hands-free litter grabber
Bags, gloves and other supplies
While out on our walks, it would be easy to bring along a picker and tidy up the paths, walkways, and streets as we go! We envision this evolving over the season into a more regular group, or club of community beautification champions.

Nextdoor verifies community members are actual residents. So you can control what content you see, as well as who sees your content by sharing just to your neighbourhood, or also to nearby neighbourhoods (Terwilleger, Riverbend, Hodgson, etc).

City of Edmonton administration has proposed changes to the Zoning Bylaw 12800. The revisions contained in this amendment that affect Oak Hills include:
Making semi-detached and duplex housing permitted uses in the (RF1) Single Detached Residential Zone.
Removing the current location restrictions for duplexes and semi-detached in these zones
Creating an exemption to allow semi-detached housing to be subdivided into its two halves, regardless of previous subdivisions on a site
Based on what we have been told, the City has already conducted public consultation on this subject. We were NOT aware of this consultation, and our residents share this feeling. We have heard concerns that the public consultation process has not been transparent and that the City has not communicated the potential consequences or safeguards to existing homeowners in terms of traffic, architectural, HOA membership, etc.
Oak Hills Community League has been asked to submit comments by July 9, 2018.
In an effort to provide more accurate comment, we would like to hear from all residents in our area, including nearby neighbourhoods. Time is very tight here, please complete the survey as soon as possible.
